I started running with Sisters In Fitness in October 2013. Prior to this I had occasionally ran with other groups and friends, however after I tried running with SIF once I was hooked! The positivity, encouragement and support from both Instructors and fellow runners was like nothing I had ever experienced before. I put my previous running aside, and realized that in order to succeed I would need to start from the beginning with running 1 minute, walking 1 minute and slowly work my way up.
I am proud to say that I successfully completed several races such as Tely 10, Huffin Puffin Team relay, along with two half marathons. But the greatest accomplishment of my running life was conquering Cape to Cabot this past October. Words cannot express the feeling crossing the finish line of one of the toughest races in North America. If someone had told me 3 years ago that I would have accomplished these goals I probably would have told them they were crazy! Now I wouldn’t change it for the world.
I was given the wonderful opportunity to become a Running Instructor in March 2015. It is so inspiring and motivating to be a part of both new and returning members achieve their running goals.
Running is your “you” time to get away from a busy work/home life and truly enjoy the fresh air and be grateful that you have been given the opportunity to run! You truly can do anything you put your mind to.
